WORKSHOP: REST AS AN ACCESS TO CREATIVITY
CHARLES A. WASHINGTON / PINKMETALPETAL PRODUCTIONS (DRESDEN)
In this workshop, Charles A. Washington from Pinkmetalpetal Productions shares insights into his latest movement research, which he is developing during his "TANZPAKT in residence" at LOFFT - DAS THEATER.
Are you exhausted? Do your mind and body long for deep relaxation? If a dance performance is created or viewed from the perspective of rest, how would that affect its appearance? And how might creative work be expressed when rest is the foundation? Charles A. Washington's TANZPAKT residency explores low-energy dance: virtuosity, sustainability and energy management of a middle-aged dancer. The research project aims to explore somatic methods and the importance of low-energy dance as sustainable practices in dance.
During the one-week workshop, you will have the opportunity to experience a revitalisation at the level of the body cells in deep rest phases. The workshop is designed to use the power of rest as an impulse for improvisation. Each day will focus on a different aspect of cell biology: the homeostasis of the body's cells through rest, the awareness of the changing and moving characteristics of fluids inside (intracellular) and outside (extracellular) the cells, and the balance between cell structure and fluidity. It also explores the connection between the conscious and subconscious mind and how they influence each other. Creativity comes from the subconscious and brings forth the unknown, absorbed by the conscious mind as patterns that unfold in the creative process. Join us and experience how profound calm can unleash your creative power! The workshop results will be presented in a public show. Due to the artistic nature of the programme, we also welcome older participants.
