The Jugendclub ‘83 is moving for two days and opening its doors about 30 minutes’ walk away in the Alte Feuerwache Wolfen, which will be the centre of the OSTEN festival for a fortnight.

But what is involved in the move if the club is not just a space for sofas, table football, TVs and decorations, but above all a meeting place, a space for encounters and a place for negotiating the present of several generations in Wolfen?

UM.ZUG is part of the youth art project DIGITAL.REBELS, which was set up to work with young people in Bitterfeld-Wolfen over several months in search of agency and new possibilities in digital and physical space.

As a place for open youth work, the ‘83 youth club is a voluntary space - being there voluntarily means being motivated and being able to make your own decisions. Our microclub during the festival picks up on this idea and at the same time invites people to document their time together and encounters at the location with Polaroid photos and to further fill the space with their own objects and memories.

On display will be objects and furniture from the ‘83 youth club, documentary videos and photographs as well as film works by the participating young people. The films will be shown in parallel at LOFFT - DAS THEATER in Leipzig.
