WIR | WE

WIR is an explorative journey into the physical and mental changes that take place when humans are disconnected from the outside world for a seemingly unlimited period of time. Each of them is on their own. Paradoxically, their common destiny is segregation. They exist in the limbo of disrupted routines, while trying to assert their personal desires and ambitions.

Longing for love, appetite for recognition, crave for touch – How and by whom are they to be satisfied in solitary spaces? How do privacy, intimacy, and the urge to be seen interplay and play out when all that is available is the space contained in their own rooms and minds? Hungers, fears, struggles and fantasies waltz and evolve while the 6 diverse performers crave for a steadily evanescing, more promising future. As time goes by, their old worlds seem ever sweeter, more covetable, embracing…

What are we able to say about the condition of this world and our desire for a different one, but – most importantly, what does this yearning tell about us? WIR investigates artistically the very core of that elusive substance that keeps us alive; while it attempts to make sense of the nonsensical situation that frames the performers’ lives, here and now.

Nir de Volff was already seen at LOFFT in 2017 with his company TOTAL BRUTAL with the production COME AS YOU ARE and is working on the first two productions of FORWARD DANCE COMPANY.
