ILDIKÓ TÓTH (LEIPZIG)
What makes us human is our ability to experience and react intuitively to the moment. How can dance make this unique characteristic of being human tangible?
Ildikó Tóth's dance piece explores the question of what characterises human experience and understanding – and what is at risk of being lost in a society that increasingly focuses on rationalisation, functionality and efficiency. The focus here is on intuition, empathy and improvisation – essential dimensions of being human.
Hanging mirror elements transform the stage into a mobile of light and reflection. Amidst this architecture, a dense interplay of dance, sound, light and text fragments emerges, without imposing any fixed interpretations. In the reflections, performers and audience members encounter each other directly – a subtle invitation to immerse oneself completely in the effect of body, sound and word in a fleeting moment.
Ildikó Tóth danced with The Forsythe Company in Frankfurt under the direction of William Forsythe until 2015 and has since been involved in projects between New York and Leipzig as a dancer, choreographer and dance lecturer.
