As part of the first Tanztriennale Hamburg, we are hosting Irish musician and choreographer Aoife McAtamney and Dublin's Lexicon Library senior librarian Lucy O’Donnell.
The Tanztriennale is a new initiative that aims to raise the visibility and profile of dance and recognise it as a socially relevant practice. The first edition will take place in Hamburg from 14 to 21 June 2026. Through its COUNTER BALANCE programme, it fosters artistic collaboration: in residencies, pairs from different disciplines work together – moving beyond conventional production methods and artistic bubbles.
The residency at LOFFT brings together musician and choreographer Aoife McAtamney and librarian Lucy O'Donnell. They are exploring the interplay between song, dance and choreography in relationship to literature – and with the unique world of libraries as an inspiring space for experience. The focus is on their interdisciplinary project “Authors”, which they are developing further outside of Ireland for the first time. The aim is to test new artistic approaches and share a creative proposal for what a future German edition of 'Authors' could be. At the same time, they are using their time in Leipzig to network with the local scene and engage with the public.
