Solo so low, solo so high. A musical solo manifesto for gender justice in the music industry.
#GrammysSoMale? #EverythingSoMale! Only 22% of songs on the Billboard charts are performed by women or queer people, only 12% are written by them, and only 2% are produced by them. In the melodiously cacophonous monodrama in stereo, performer and solo musician THORD1S interrogates from a genderqueer perspective the highs and lows of the work of women, non-binary people, and female-socialized queer solo acts in the cis-male dominated music business. For example, the one-person concert performance ACHTERBAHN declares solo form to be off-road content, the solo itself as a matter of negotiation.
THORD1S, known to LOFFT fans as a performer in YOU DON'T OWN ME by CHICKS* freiesperformancekollektiv (2020) and from the concert series EMBRACE EMBRACE (2022), intertwines this theme with the situation of being alone, which is so virulent for solo acts, especially in corona times, and the increased danger for musicians of becoming mentally ill due to their profession.
