POLITIK IM FREIEN THEATER: DIE TÜTEN AUS DER VERWALTUNG. Das Bürokratie-Musical
glanz&krawall und Theater Thikwa
A furious musical ride through the world of bureaucracy with a magnificent inclusive ensemble, rousing songs, and choreography that makes the administration dance.
We have all dreamed of a perfect and citizen-friendly administration. For people with disabilities and special needs, visits to the authorities represent a very particular challenge. The inclusive ensemble of Theater Thikwa joins the musical group glanz&krawall on a furious musical ride through the world of bureaucracy.
In this fantasy administration between dream and nightmare, the audience comes across very familiar clichés, obstacles and advantages of bureaucracy – which are humorously and entertainingly made fun of by the company. Responses to applications (denied!) and fondly remembered ritual team meetings are collectively choreographed and turned into rousing songs. Stamps are brandished and a stapler-step-dance is tried. Of course, there has to be order to everything, and that begins with using the correct coffee-cup. Woe be to the new colleagues who upset the tried and tested procedures. But trouble looms from other sources, too: Right-wing libertarians see the bureaucratic apparatus as a thorn in their flesh. They want less state, less cost and more efficiency. But what would that mean for the authorities’ utopian promise of creating equal rules for everyone and preventing arbitrary rule? Will the administration guys save the day?
glanz&krawall are a Berlin-based (musical-)theatre group around director Marielle Sterra and dramaturg Dennis Depta. With their works, they bring the urban space into the theatre or their theatre into the urban space. They work with both amateurs and professionals, developing their performance texts together during the rehearsal process.
In Theater Thikwa, artists with and without disabilities create theatre together and they are not afraid to experiment – both at their own venue in Berlin and at guest performances all over the world.
