IN ZUNGEN – HEX*EN HAUFEN KONSENS | IN TONGUES - WITCHES PILES CONSENSUS

Using the Lusatian spring custom of "burning witches" (Upper Sorbian: Chodojtypalenje), we are looking for queer rituals and forms of gathering. The titular TONGUES are both method and material: we speak different languages, talk about our origins and traditions, and lick the sweat off our fire-warmed skin. We gather for a counter-ritual in which we become the witches who were not burned. We lead through the evening in unexpectedly casual witch drag, talk about our mythological ancestors and everyday magic. Accompanied by witchy sound, with a performance by the feminist Sorbian rappers Kolektiw Klanki and an expansive installation to touch and hang out in, a maelstrom of stories and textures emerges, culminating in a burning pile.

Early boarding possible (You can go 10 minutes earlier into the theatre hall).

Wheelchair accessible: The performance will take place inside and then on the forecourt of the theatre. The way out is on even ground.
