MARKUS&MARKUS THEATERKOLLEKTIV
In Ibsen's play, Osvald asks his mother for euthanasia. Should it be allowed to determine the end of the own life? Markus&Markus also shed light on this existential question.
In Ibsen's GHOSTS Oswald asks his mother to help him die. She has her doubts. And along with her, societies all over the world have their doubts about whether there is a basic right for the individual to self-determine to die. The Markus&Markus Theater Collective met their Oswald, 81-year-old Margot, on April 1 and accompanied her during her last days, while she put her things in order, and as she travelled to Switzerland. To the place where for years now a few organizations have been offering medically assisted suicide. On May 22 Margot was buried.

Before and after the performances, the video installation BLEIBT IHR NOCH ZUM ESSEN? | ARE YOU STAYING FOR DINNER? can be seen in the LOFFT foyer. At the end of the day, Margot always asked ‘Are you staying for dinner?’. Markus&Markus now invites you to do so in the form of a video installation. And thus offers a look behind the scenes of documentary theatre work.
On March 1st, before the performance at 18:30h, the discussion format ECHOLOT: FROM LIFE - ACCOMPANYING DEATH will take place in the LOFFT Studio (held in German).
