It's time to enter a new age: The Age of Pleasure. A ceremonial performance with elements of dance theatre, sci-fi, club beats and storytelling.
The philosopher Bayo Akomolafé tells the story of how, since the arrival of the first slave ships in the "new world," cracks in time have formed due to global collective pain. These cracks have been expanding ever since. Deep within, conjured by the songs of whales, new deities were born through these cracks. During the performance, these deities are invited and herald a new era: The Age of Pleasure.
This project explores queer, diasporic forms of spirituality and magic in a world dominated by terror and profound Cracks. Inspired by the technologies and knowledge systems of our ancestors, decolonial philosophies, and science fiction, CRACKS IN TIME AND THE APPEARANCE OF NEW GOD*ESSES seeks to create new myths grounded in care, hope, and cooperative ethics.
